The United States Flag is one of the most recognized and well known flags all over the world . The flag consists of 50 white stars on a navy blue background and 13 red stripes. The stars represents the 50 states composing the United States and the stripes represents the 13 original colonies which became the first states in the union. The flag represents the freedom and rights guaranteed in the US Constitution and its Bill of Rights, and a symbol of every American's personal and individual liberty as set forth in the Declaration of Independence. The US flag has been an embodiment of the colorful history behind it. Before the Executive Order of June 24, 1912, there was no strict interpretation of the order of the stars or the proportion of the flag.
The flags created before this date was not uniform when it comes the position of the stars since it was then left at the discretion of the flag maker. It was only after the Executive Order that the similar rowing of stars and flag proportions were officially adopted. The US flag is displayed in public buildings and it is also common to find it flown in private houses. The flag and its version of US Fan Flags are widespread flown and used during civic holidays like Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, President's Day, Flag Day and during Independence Day.
